Session Proposal Requirements

We invite you to propose special sessions related to the meeting theme or on other emerging topics in aquatic sciences. There will also be contributed sessions that will cover major themes in limnology and oceanography such as biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, biodiversity, as well as other topics.

Session proposals for the are due by 23:59 U.S. Pacific Time on 15 June 2026. Proposals should include the following information:

  • Identify at least one co-organizer, but you may add up to four (at least one must be a member of ASLO).
  • Include an informative session title.
  • Enter your best estimate of the number of attendees, based on your knowledge of the topic and of individuals who would be interested.
  • Include a short (500-word) session description.
  • Indicate the desired format (talks/posters/both).
  • Include four to five potential speakers.
  • Indicate up to five keywords.

Proposals must be submitted by the 15 June 2026 deadline via the online submission form.

All speakers must register for the meeting, submit an abstract, and pay all fees when registration becomes available.

How Sessions Are Chosen

There is a limited number of time slots and rooms for oral sessions. Sessions that receive a large number of abstracts will receive several oral slots based on the percentage of all oral abstracts submitted. As such, if your session does not reach an adequate number of abstract submissions as defined by the Program Committee, your session may be merged with another appropriate scientific session. In this case, session chairs will work with their program committee representative on potential merges.

Thank you to our proposers!

Session proposals are now closed and the program committee is now in review of the proposals. Proposers should look for any questions that might come from the committee members.
