A Visiting Scientist/Postdoctoral Position is available to a highly qualified individual trained in aquatic environmental chemistry/toxicology and has experience with qPCR analysis. This postdoctoral position will be housed at the Robert B. Annis Water Resources Institute (AWRI) of Grand Valley State University. The selected candidate will work with faculty at AWRI on projects that focus on watersheds and water bodies local to the region, as well as be responsible for teaching one course (to be determined) per year.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, toxicology, or related field. Must have a record of peer-reviewed publications; a desire to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment; and be capable of working independently when necessary. Experience working in, and running, environmental chemistry labs, and experience with qPCR analysis, is critical. We are especially interested in applicants with experience in applying their chemistry and/or toxicology skills to one or more of the following: molecular source tracking, harmful algal blooms, invasive species, microplastics, and climate change, but expertise in other areas will be considered.
The initial appointment is for one year with benefits and a competitive salary. Continued funding is available for an additional year contingent upon satisfactory progress. Support is provided for travel and supplies. The position is available starting immediately; consideration of applications will continue until the position is filled.
