Early Career Opportunity – Amplifying Voices: ECRs Making Waves in Aquatic Sciences

The ASLO Early Career Committee is proud to announce the call for speakers for a new early career researcher (ECR) webinar series, โ€œAmplifying Voices: ECRs making waves in aquatic sciences.โ€ This series will focus on promoting the exciting work of early career aquatic scientists from underrepresented groups in our global community.

We welcome all ECR members to apply to present novel research on any aspect of aquatic science, freshwater or marine. Through this series, we aim to amplify the diverse ASLO community, and so we particularly encourage applications from ECRs of historically excluded groups (defined broadly to include ethnic origin and ethnicity, disability, sex, gender and sexual orientation, or any other component of identity underrepresented in science), and from low to middle income countries. Applicants should be advanced Ph.D. candidates, post docs, or early career faculty and are not required to be ASLO members. The ASLO Board and the Early Career Committee recognize the great expense and difficulty of attending and presenting at the typical ASLO meetings. As such, special attention will be paid to the voices and science of those researchers who have had limited opportunities to attend international meetings.

We look forward to hearing from the global community of aquatic researchers!

Applications will be accepted and reviewed twice a year. Invited talks will occur monthly (dates to be announced on also.org) and will consist of two, twenty-minute presentations followed by a panel discussion with the presenters and members of the ASLO Early Career Committee. Presenters may choose to have their talks recorded and made available on ASLOโ€™s YouTube page, but must be present live for questions. Presenters will receive a certificate of participation. We plan to start the series in September 2021.

The application to present in the webinar series can be found at https://www.aslo.org/amplifying-voices-webinar-applications/.

If you want to present but have questions or comments, please contact the Early Career Committee at [email protected].
