Student Resources and Activities Committee

ASLO has a number of activities and resources geared towards undergraduate and graduate students in the aquatic sciences. These activities include everything from advice on presentations and applying to graduate school, to awarding travel grants to meetings and student workshops. Student resources and activities are handled by a sub-committee of the ASLO Education and Human Resources Super Committee and currently has the following members:

Edna Fernandez-Figueroa (co-Chair)
Manda Kambikambi (co-Chair)
Hayley N. Schiebel
Jacob Zwart
Sarah Rosengard

ASLO recognizes that its student members are the future of the society and we want you to know that you have a home here! Students comprise approximately 1/3 of ASLO membership and we hail from all over the world.

Do you have ideas for student activities or workshops? Do you want to be more involved by serving on a committee? Contact the student board members to get involved!

Formal charge to the committee: To engage the student membership and provide for their specific needs by: 1) Offering opportunities for students to network, gain professional skills, and make the most of meetings, 2) Distributing resources to make it easier for students to participate in meetings, 3) Providing career information and links to job postings, and 4) Advocating for students and student programs as members of the Board of Directors
