The 2022 ASLO Board Elections have closed. Thank you to all the members who participated in voting in the election! Your input through the nominations and voting process is critical to shaping the future ASLO. The results of the elections are as follows:
Ilana Berman-Frank and Mina BIzic
Dr. Menden-Deuer will begin a 2-year term as President-Elect on July 1, 2022, followed by two years as President and then two additional years as Past-President. Drs. Berman-Frank and Bizic will also begin their 3-year terms as Members-at-Large on July 1.
I would like to thank all the outstanding candidates who agreed to run in this year’s election! I can’t express my gratitude enough at your willingness to serve ASLO. I would also like to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for the three current board members who will be rotating off the board this year for their many years of dedicated service to the society: Michael Pace (Past-President), Beth Stauffer (Member-at-Large), and Hans-Peter Grossart (Member-at-Large). All three have been phenomenal contributors to ASLO’s mission, providing different lens through active participation in all major and strategic decisions made through their years of service. I particularly want to re-iterate my thanks to Mike for his leadership and calm demeanour in his executive capacity through his various presidential roles.
Lastly, I would like to say that it has been an honour to serve ASLO in my capacity as President despite the challenging times. I am grateful for the help and support along the way, and the growth opportunity. ASLO continues to emerge strong thanks to an engaged and devoted membership and the collective belief in our purpose to support, promote, and integrate the scientific research from a diverse international community, across the full spectrum of the aquatic sciences. I look forward to working with in-coming President Patricia Glibert, who will do a superb job with her boundless energy, and with our newest board members.
Roxane Maranger, ASLO President
