Travel Information
The following information is provided to make travel, especially international, as convenient as possible. Once you have completed the conference registration process you will find participant letters under your registration account, which you are free to print for your convenience. The conference management staff is willing to provide information whenever possible. However, please note the following:
- Invitation and participation letters cannot be issued to potential attendees until registration and full payment are made.
- Conference organizers are unable to send invitation letters directly to consulates on behalf of a potential attendee. Invitation letters are prepared solely for individuals and are emailed directly to them.
- It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure documentation is correct and completed in a timely manner before you start your journey. It is recommended that application for a visa be made at least 10 weeks prior to the proposed travel dates.
Travel by Air
The quickest and most convenient method to travel to the island of Mallorca. The Palma airport (Son Sant Joan Airport), situated 8 km east of Palma, is a large international airport (the third largest airport in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona). Transportation from the airport is available via cab and municipal bus with fares to the center of Palma averaging 29€ (US$33.94) and €5 (US$5.85), respectively. A taxi may be booked online (http://www.mobipalma.mobi/mobilitat/transport/taxi/usuaris-taxi/) and pre-booked taxi drivers wait for their customers at the meeting point, http://www.booktaximallorca.com/images/stories/meeting-point-pmi.jpg, located in the middle of the arrival hall of the airport.
Travel by Sea
A number of cruise ships berth at Palma, and there are also a number of ferry services to other Balearic Islands and to the Iberian Peninsula:
Baleària (https://www.balearia.com/en/reservar) run ferries from Barcelona, Denia, Valencia, Ibiza, Menorca, Formentera. Fares for example for a one-way ticket is from €32.00 (US$37.45) and of travelling with a car an extra €58.00 (US$67.88).
Trasmediterranea (https://www.directferries.com/trasmediterranea.htm) run ferries from Barcelona, Valencia, Ibiza and Menorca.
Private boats can also be chartered from the Iberian Peninsula or from other coasts to Palma.
Visa Requirements
Visitors from other European Union member countries may enter Spain using either a passport or their national identity document. Visitors from other countries must have a valid passport and a visa if required.
