Student Opportunities
There will be student workshops during the meeting. Potential topics will focus on career development (e.g., publication and grant writing, communicating science, different career paths, etc.)
Virtual social events are being planned. These will provide fun, social events for both student and early career meeting participants. Plan on visiting with friends, and meeting new ones, just like the popular in-person mixers – this time electronically. Other activities are being planned, also.
Further details about these events will be provided later.
ASLO Student Awards
Upon registration and abstract submission, students will be offered the opportunity to apply for a student award to help cover registration for the meeting. A limited number of awards will be available. To be eligible, applicants must be an ASLO student member, and the application must be completed at the same time as the meeting registration and abstract submission, including payment. These awards will be paid in US dollars only. If you have any questions, please email the Student Board Members: Camille Gaynus, cgaynus@sas.upenn.edu or Edna Fernandez-Figueroa, egf0013@auburn.edu.
Please continue to check the website for more information regarding the availability of awards for this meeting. Note that you must be a current ASLO Student Member and presenting at the meeting to apply for the award.
University of the Balearic (UIB) Student Grants
To help cover the cost of registration of presenting students for the ASLO 2021 Aquatic Sciences Meeting, there will be 14 student grants available for students (MSc and PhD) from different universities and research institutes. Those presenting orally will be given priority over poster presentations. Please send your name, affiliation (and indicate whether MSc or PhD student) and abstract (indicate if it is for oral or poster presentation) in a one-page PDF file to Marlene Wesselmann (m.wesselmann@imedea.uib-csic.es) on or before March 1. The grantees will be informed by March 8 and you will have time to submit the abstract (and register early) to the ASLO website (deadline March 12).
