The second Black in Marine Science (BIMS) Week kicks off today! The organizers have put together an exciting schedule of over 45 events with more than 75 Black speakers. The events include keynote talks, professional development panels, networking opportunities, mental health discussions, and more! The week will feature discussions on attaining equity and inclusion in marine science and amplify the voices of our international community of Black marine scientists. The full calendar of events can be found here:
In addition, check out this post from our former ASLO Student Board Member Dr. Camille Gaynus, explaining the background behind and goals of the inaugural BIMS week in 2020:

Also remember to check out ASLO’s new DEIJ Forum! Moderated by ASLO RRTF Intern and Black in Marine Science team member Leslie Townsell, the forum is a new online space for our members and the broader aquatic science community to gather and share resources, post events and opportunities, and exchange ideas on all topics of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in the aquatic sciences!
