A student-mentor mixer will be held on Monday evening following the scientific sessions. It is a great way to meet other students and their mentors from both societies. This event is open to all. Snacks and drinks will be available.
The student organizations of both societies will meet on separate days over lunch to discuss student business matters. NABS GRC members will meet during lunch on Monday, 7 June, and ASLO student members will meet during lunch on Tuesday, 8 June. Both meetings will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Mesa Ballroom A – C.
All students of both societies are invited to attend these workshop events. A limited number of boxed lunches will be served.
This career workshop will consist of postdoctoral, professor, and research scientist panelists who will speak about their experiences working at various universities, research institutes, and government agencies in the United States and abroad.
Roommates Wanted is a free online service for student and early career members of either ASLO or NABS who are seeking roommates during this meeting. To participate, visit the website at http://www.aslo.org/meetings/roommates.html.
Students and early career professionals can meet each other and the student board representatives from both societies in a fun, relaxed setting at the Career Center. This center will host the Career Bulletin Board where prospective employers are invited to post job announcements and students and early career professionals are invited to post a one-page CV. Stop by and sign up for the student career guide and raffle! The Career Center is located in the exhibit hall and will be opened Monday through Wednesday during exhibit hall hours.
ASLO and NABS student members are organizing auction activities, the proceeds from which will benefit the student organizations of both societies. A silent auction of books donated by publishers will start on Monday, 7 June, and will close on Wednesday, 9 June. A live auction featuring an assortment of items provided by society members, vendors, and others will take place at the Fiesta on Wednesday evening.
The student organizations for ASLO and NABS will have items with the meeting logo available for purchase through the conference Web site and on site during the meeting. Proceeds will benefit the student travel awards and activities for both societies. Items will be available at the NABS booth in the Exhibit Hall through the conclusion of the first coffee break on Wednesday morning and after that can be purchased at the conference registration desk.
