The stark alpine landscape of the Lais da Rims area in the eastern Swiss Alps near the town of Scuol. The small first-order stream in the foreground ran only for 300 m before disappearing back into the talus slope. In the background, a small alpine lake is visible. These lakes and streams occupy only a very small portion of the landscape, but are clearly important for maintaining alpine biodiversity.
