A researcher stands by Spring Creek, Idaho, before it enters Bull Trout Lake. The stream has transported and then deposited millions of tons of sand and gravel where it enters the lake. The lake's delta has continued to grow, now filling about 25% of the former lake. Researchers at Utah State University are studying how these lake deltas retain nutrients flowing through the watershed.
