A recently-constructed beaver dam on Stanley Creek, Idaho, modifies many limnological factors. Sediments and nutrients are deposited behind a dam, the water is warmed in the pond, and the water table in the valley bottom is raised. Beaver were once extirpated from much of their former range, but with their return, natural watershed functions are restored.
