Rhodamine dye released into Redfish Creek entering Redfish Lake in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho (USA). Note that the dye disappears quickly as the cold (12 C), and thus dense, stream waters plunge beneath the warm (18 C) surficial waters of the lake. Plunging inflows increase the mixing volume of a lake, and deliver stream nutrients to deeper lake strata. September 1997.
