Zooplankton net sampling in Lake Powell (Utah & Arizona, USA)
Student researchers prepare to launch a 0.5-m diameter zooplankton net into Bear Lake. The net will be lowered 60-m (197 feet) to the deepest part of the lake, and then raised to capture the mm-sized animal plankton in the water column. The study was conducted to understand what zooplankton was available for the pelagic Bonneville cisco, and endemic fish in the lake.
