A researcher measures dischage in Yellow Belly Creek, Sawtooth Mountains, Idaho (USA) with a flow meter. The tape stretched across the stream allows measurements to be taken at known intervals. The water velocity data, along with widths and depths, are then used to estimate discharge of the stream. Photo May 1993.
