A boatwoman transports aquatic plants harvested in the immense Puno Bay wetland of Lake Titicaca. Emergent rushes (Scirpus tatora) are used for mats, roofs and building boats. Submerged plants (Elodea, Myriophyllum, Potameogeton), locally referred to as "llachu", are used extensively for feeding livestock. The plants are collected from several meters of water with a knife blade attached to a long pole.
