Pristine wilderness lakes are a great resource for recreation and research. This small, unnamed pond is on Pettit Creek near Alice Lake in the Sawtooth Wilderness Area of Idaho. El Capitan Peak is in the background. This watershed is being studied by researchers at Utah State University to understand thermal properties of stream-lake linkages, and nitrogen transport in pristine watersheds. Photo, October 2003.
