A bend in the Rio Ramis (Peru) shows erosional cutting on the high-velocity water on the outside of a bend, and deposition occurs on the inside of the bend. In the background is the eastern cordillera of the Andes, with peaks near 18,500 ft (5600 m). Heavy grazing by sheep, alpacas, and llamas reduces the riparian vegetation in this high-altitude plane (13,000 ft; 3960 m).
