A trout rises to feed at dawn in Toxaway Lake, Sawtooth Wilderness Area, Idaho (USA). Trout have been stocked in many high-altitude lakes that were formerly fishless. While providing recreation for anglers, these exotic species have had negative impacts on native species. The trout feeding in the picture was likely a brook trout introduced from the eastern United States. Photo, October 2003.
