Red rhodamine WT dye added to the inflow of Redfish Lake, Idaho, to determine where the inflowing water inserts into the water column. On this date (mid-October), the cold, dense, inflowing water plunged to 12 m (40') before it flowed out in a very narrow layer into the lake's metalimnion.
