      Class: Branchiopoda Latreille, 1817; Subclass: Diplostraca Gerstaecker, 1866; Order: Cladocera Latreille, 1829; Suborder: Anomopoda; Family: Daphniidae Straus 1820; Genus: Ceriodaphnia Dana 1853
      Taxonomy according to Rowe and Hebert 2000 (http://www.cladocera.uoguelph.ca/default.htm) and Edmondson, W.T. (1963) Freshwater Biology. 2nd Ed. Wiley.


      This specimen was collected from Lake Kinneret (= Sea of Galilee = Lake Tiberias) Israel. Photograph was made using Nomarsky differential interference contrast at 20X.
      Ceriodaphnia reticulata are very common in Lake Kinneret, constituting the majority of cladoceran biomass, during winter and spring months.
