Radiosperma corbiferum (Meunier 1910)
Specimens from the Chukchi Sea. Z-stack images of Bouin's-fixed specimens. This odd organism was perhaps first described by Cleve in 1899 as Fungella arctica from Sptizbergen and then by Meunier in 1910 from the Kara Sea,both with very poor drawings. The inset shows the nice drawings from Leegaard 1920 who described it as having a parachute. It is perhaps a life-stage of a Pterosoma-type flagellate. Mysterious organism- also found in the Baltic Sea.
