Coastal River, Trujillo, Peru
Coastal rivers from the Andes cut through the northern extension of the Atacama desert that runs along the coast of most Peru. This shot was taken on a river about 75 km north of the large city of Trujillo. Although the rivers are highly seasonal in flow, water diversions for sugar cane, rice and other crops takes most or all of the flow in the dry season.
