Gulls (mostly California gulls) foraging where green water from less salty Gilbert Bay enters Gunnison Bay from the culvert through the Southern Pacific Railway causeway. Gunnison Bay is saturated with salt (ca. 300 g/L), and brine shrimp and brine flies cannot reproduce their. Birds are relatively rare on the waters of Gunnison Bay.
