Swans in the moat surrounding Matsumtoto Castle in central Japan. Built around 1595, it is the largest wooden castle in Japan.
The moats were intentionally made eutrophic so that invaders couldn't see the bottom, and hence they wouldn't know the depth of the water they had to attack through.
