A happy angler holds a 4 kg (9 lb) golden dorado (Salminus maxillosus or Salminus brasiliensis)caught fly fishing in a side channel of the Parana River south of Goya, Argentina.
Dorado are in the family Characidae and not related to salmon or the salt water fish with the same name. Dorado are serious piscivores with razor-sharp teeth. The world record dorado weighed 31 kg.
