Beautiful Jenny Lake lies directly below Mount Owen and the Grand Teton (background). It was formed 12000 years ago when a glacier gouged a hole at the bottom of the valley and deposited a terminal moraine, thus impounding water flowing down from the mountains. The lake is approximately 79 m (260 ft) deep and covers 0.9 km²(226 acres).
