An aerial view of the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area, and a playa separating it from Farmington Bay. The Management area is run by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. This unit, at the south end of Farmington Bay, is very close to greater metropolitan Salt Lake City, and urban area of Davis County.
The area receives its water from the Jordan River, which is very rich in nutrients, and hence, eutrophication in wetlands is a problem. The Salt Lake City Sewage Canal enters between ponds, and flows into Farmington Bay, contributing to the hyper-eutrophication there.
