Pyramid Lake is located in Northern Nevada within the Pyramid Lake Paiute Indian Reservation. It is classified as a mesotrophic, monomictic, terminal lake. It is home to two endemic fish species, the Cui-ui (Chasmistes cujus) and Lahontan Cutthroat Trout. "Kuyuidokado" (Pyramid Lake Paiutes/Cui-ui eaters) is the original name of the lake prior to John C. Fremont, the first european visitor to see the 'pyramid' shaped rock in 1843.
