Hot spring cyanobacteria, West Fork San Juan River, Colorado

A hot spring gushes from the rock a few meters above the West Fork of the San Juan River, Colorado. The high temperature (ca. 100 F)allows cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) to dominate and grow in the nutrient-rich water.
