Uranium tailings ponds near Moab, Utah, seen from Dead Horse Point State Park. The waste ponds lie next to the Colorado River, seen here as a tiny sliver next to the right of the ponds. The U.S. Department of Energy is planning to move the wastes so that they no longer leach into the river.
