Getting ready to depart from Qaviarot (meaning "a place of fine sand" in Inupiat) on the north shore of Teshekpuk Lake on the Alaskan Artic Coastal Plain in late August 2008. Jim Webster (pilot) and Ben Jones (USGS) are loading gear. This was an unusually calm day on Teshekpuk Lake.
