A student from the Watershed Sciences Department at Utah State University adds a preservative and salt solution to a sediment trap that will be deployed to the bottom of Bull Trout Lake (Sawtooth Mountains, Idaho). The salt and preservative at the bottom of the trap will stop decomposition of phytoplankton and other materials that sediment into the trap. Other traps are deployed without the preservative to assess net and gross sedimentation.
