The Finger of Fate granite monolith towers above Hell Roaring Lake in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. The Finger of Fate is a popular climbing destination and the lake is a popular camping spot by backpackers.

The lake and its inflowing waters is being studied by researchers at Utah State who are interested in how watershed complexity influences nutrient fluxes and ecosystem stability.
