Description:

A researcher with brine fly adults collected from the shore (Fremont Island)of Great Salt Lake. The researcher has on a dry suit to sample the larvae and pupae that live on stromatolites (biostromes) in the lake. It is believed that birds feast on the larvae, pupae and adult flies that are extremely abundant in the lake. However, diet analyzes of the birds that utilize the lake are limited. Goldeneye ducks, however, do feed extensively on the larvae.
