Description: Freshwater wetlands surround the eastern, southern and northern shores of the Great Salt Lake. These wetlands are fed from snowmelt from the Wasatch Mountains, and to a lesser extent by the Oquirrh seen in the background of this image. The massive tailings ponds from the Kennecott Copper Mine, as well as the smelting smoke stack are also visible in the background. Gilbert Bay of the Great Salt Lake is visible in the upper right.
