R/V Calanus, at the end of the pier at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, University of Miami, built in 1970 and replaced by the R/V Walton Smith in 2000. The Calanus was a shallow-draft, small vessel (8 bunks, 6 for scientific crew) ideal for research in mangrove and coral reef systems. Photo from old ASLO slide collection; taken by S. Newell; background information provided by S. Newell; scanned by K.L. Schulz.
