A Van Dorn bottle is lowered through a hole in the ice to collect water at different depths in Hyrum Reservoir, Utah. After lowering to the prescribed depth, a messenger is sent down the line, and a trip device allows the plungers to close at depth. The water was analyzed for chlorophyll and nutrients as part of a limnology exercise for students at Utah State University.
