Logs pilled up in the outflow of Bull Trout Lake, Idaho (Sawtooth Mountains). Log-jams at outflows of mountain lakes are common. These accumulations provide distinct habitats for organisms in lakes, and contribute to organic carbon released from the lake to the outflow stream.
