There will be a Career Center set up, where students and early career professionals can meet each other and the ASLO Board Representatives in a fun, relaxed setting. This center will host the Career Bulletin Board, where prospective employers are invited to post job announcements and students and early career professionals are invited to post a one-page CV. Students should also stop by for information and to sign up for the Career Development Workshops and student social events. The Career Center will also feature a Book Raffle – items and raffle boxes will be displayed all week and the drawing will be held on Thursday evening. See below for other Early Career events.
Roommates Wanted is a free online service to ASLO students and early career members who are seeking roommates during meetings. To participate, visit http://www.aslo.org/meetings/roommates.html. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this service since hotel costs in Nice will be high.
Students from Laboratoire d'Océanographie de Villefranche, home institution of two of the co-chairs, are compiling useful tips for student participants regarding accommodation, dining, nightlife, etc.
There will be an early career “meet & mix” facilitated by members of the ASLO Early Career Committee. This gathering will give early career members an opportunity to provide feedback on various topics relevant to them, including any concerns and expectations regarding ASLO, so that the society can better meet their needs! This is also a social gathering for early career members to get to know each other and network among themselves. Refreshments will be served.
An interactive workshop that will explore Tips to Get Your Research Funded will be held during lunch one day.
