Geoff Holland has recently retired from the Canadian Government, after over 30 years in ocean science, including international ocean science affairs. Nationally, he was Director General of the Physical and Chemical Oceanography Directorate while also sitting on a number of intergovernmental and international organizations. Among his many accomplishments, he was Chair of the London Convention (1972) and the Arctic Ocean Science Board. He was also the Chair of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission. Mr. Holland still retains his interest in ocean issues and last year was name Ocean Ambassador to the Minister of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in Canada.
