Kenneth Coale is the Director of the Moss Landing Laboratories in Moss Landing, California. He has been at Moss Landing since 1988 when he came aboard as a Postdoctoral Researcher. A graduate of University of California, Santa Cruz, Dr. Coale's interest include Marine Geochemistry with an emphasis on trace metal/phytoplankton interactions. He is currently funded to study the mercury contamination of the San Francisco Bay Delta (CalFed); the role of iron in limiting phytoplankton growth in the Southern Ocean (NSF, DOE) and the use of Bomb Radiocarbon and Natural Radionuclides to age date threatened fish species. He has participated in over 50 Oceanographic Cruises, including Chief Scientists on the 1995 IronEx II expedition.
