Minorities in the Aquatic Sciences

I have a double degree from University of Ouerto Rico-Mayagues Industrial Biotechnology and Microbiology. During my undergraduate tears I partipated in various summer research programs at Georgia Tech, Berkeley, Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison and at Harvard.Currently I'm a first year Graduate Student at Gatech School of Biology I'm also a member of the the "Minorities Striving and Pursuing Higher Degrees of Success in Ocean Sciences Program'.

My research interests have been focused in Environmental Microbiology and specifically Bioremediation. I'm developing a thesis project in Molecular Tools for the Detection of Declorinating spp. in the Evironment (e.g. microarrays). I'm also part of Gatech NSF-IGERT Signals in the Sea Program were I can fulfill my other interests in Aquatic Chemical Ecology and Microbial Oceanography.
