In certain cases copyright in an article will be owned by the author, or the author's employer or institution, rather than by ASLO. In those instances the copyright owner will be indicated in the article. Copyrights for articles owned by other than ASLO must be honored. A subscription to the Journal conveys no right to copy or transmit such articles without permission from the copyright owners.
Users may download and print articles for personal use, and may retain digital copies of articles on their own computer. A user may transmit a printed or digital copy of any single article to any individual who is not an authorized user under this license provided such transmission is (i) not for compensation, (ii) solely for purposes of scholarly exchange of ideas, and (iii) not part of any systematic provision of the journal content to such user or persons affiliated with such user. Authors may post their own articles to a web site and may print and distribute digital or printed copies of these articles. Instructors may post up to 10 articles from the Journal to a publicly available class web site, or an unlimited number of articles to a web site or other electronic media with access restricted to class use.
To copy or transmit the Journal otherwise (i.e., to republish, to post on public web servers, to redistribute, to use any component in other works, or for commercial or promotional purposes) requires prior specific permission and possible fee. Materials from the Journal may not be recompiled, manipulated, used to prepare derivative works, or published in another format without prior written permission from ASLO.
