Limnology and Oceanography: Fluids and Environments (L&O:F&E) publishes interdisciplinary papers that relate fluid dynamics and transport properties to biological, chemical, and geological processes that occur in aquatic/aqueous environments.

L&O:F&E includes original articles, brief reviews, and comments/replies. L&O:F&E is published online only (in both HTML and PDF formats) by Duke University Press on behalf of the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO).

All members of ASLO have free online access to the journal. Libraries have the option to purchase a subscription. Select articles are free access. Because the journal is available in an online-only format, there are no issues. Rather, articles are uploaded and available on a rolling basis throughout the year, where one year is equivalent to one journal volume.

L&O:F&E seeks manuscripts treating research on any aspect of limnology and oceanography where advection and/or diffusion or the mechanics of the medium drive biological, chemical, or geological processes from molecular to global scales. For more information, download the Call for Papers. Submit manuscripts via Editorial Manager. See the Instructions for Authors for further details on the submission requirements and instructions for preparing the manuscript.
