Postdoctoral Associate in Low Temperature Aqueous/Sedimentary Geochemist

A multi-year Post-Doctoral position is available at the University of Vermont as part of large-scale, interdisciplinary, NSF-funded study concerning adaptation to climate change in the Lake Champlain basin - www.uvm.edu/~epscor/new02/?q=node/30.  We seek a post-doctoral associate with expertise in the low temperature geochemistry of phosphorous, iron and manganese with particular interest in redox dynamics and related transformations at the sediment water interface. Candidates with experience working with large time-series or spatial datasets and analysis of metal or P solid phase speciation by synchrotron-based X-ray absorption spectroscopy (or other approaches) are encouraged to apply.  The postdoctoral associate will work within an interdisciplinary team of faculty, postdoctoral scientists, graduate and undergraduate students broadly studying geochemical, hydrodynamic and biological processes in Lake Champlain and its watershed.

Requirements include a Ph.D. in geochemistry or related fields.  Research experience in redox driven mineral transformations is highly desirable.

Individuals selected will be expected to interact substantially across the project. Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students will be a component of the scientist’s responsibilities.
