University of North Carolina Wilmington Department of Biology and Marine Biology

FOUR FACULTY POSITIONS

The Department of Biology and Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor and two non-tenure track positions at the rank of Lecturer.   The department supports BS and MS degree programs in Biology and Marine Biology and a doctoral program in Marine Biology.   Excellent support for teaching and research are provided by state of the art science buildings, an electron microscopy suite, the Center for Marine Science, Kresge Greenhouse, outstanding vertebrate collections, and extensive algae and vascular plant herbaria.

Two Assistant Professors, tenure track, in plant systematics or any area of plant metabolism at the molecular, cell or organismal levels.   Candidates must have a Ph.D. and post-doctoral experience, and are expected to teach introductory and advanced courses in plant biology, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and maintain a vigorous extramurally funded research program.

Lecturer, non-tenure track, in health sciences to teach 12 contact hours per semester in health science related courses.   Preference will be given to candidates able to teach courses in Microbiology, Epidemiology, Cell/Molecular Biology, and/or Developmental Biology.   Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline at the time of appointment.

Lecturer, non-tenure track, in marine biology to teach 12 contact hours per semester in introductory and advanced courses in marine biology.   Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline at the time of appointment.
