Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in Satellite-derived Productivity Comparisons
Bigelow Laboratory invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the area of Arctic Ocean primary production. The work is associated with a recently-funded NASA project involving the comparison of primary productivity estimates derived from space-based algorithms, biogeochemical ocean general circulation models, and earth system models.
Minimal requirements are a Ph.D. in marine science, oceanography, remote sensing, climate or ecosystem modeling, applied math, or related field. Preferred qualifications are an ability and interest to work across biological and physical disciplines, as are strong modeling, quantitative, and statistical skills. The preferred candidate will have published (or submitted) their dissertation chapters in peer reviewed journals.
Work will be performed at the new Bigelow Laboratory campus in East Boothbay, ME (www.bigelow.org), in collaboration with Drs. Marjorie Friedrichs (Virginia Institute of Marine Science) and Vincent Saba (NOAA NMFS). Annual salary is negotiable based on experience.
The position is a full-time, 1-year appointment, renewable for up to an additional two years depending on progress and continued funding.
