The Department of Life Sciences of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Marine Microbial Ecology. Possible research areas include, but are not limited to, microbial aspects of biogeochemical cycling, biodiversity, physiology, and genomics. This position will further expand and complement our existing programs in Marine Biology (www.marinebiology.tamucc.edu) at Masters and PhD levels, and also contribute to our Coastal and Marine Systems Sciences PhD program. The preferred start date is September 1, 2013. A competitive startup package and research lab space will accompany this position. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally-funded research program, supervise graduate students, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses including Microbial Ecology, but also to design and create his/her own specialty courses. Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in a biological (or closely related) discipline. Postdoctoral experience is preferred, but not required.
