Advanced Assistant/Associate Professor (50%) and Advanced Assistant/Associate Scientist (50%)

The Environmental Studies Program (ESP)
and the Kansas Biological Survey (KBS) at the University of Kansas invite researchers
with expertise in applied aquatic ecology to apply for a joint position at the Advanced
Assistant/Associate Professor (50%) and Advanced Assistant/Associate Scientist
(50%) levels.  The position is expected
to begin as early as August 18, 2014 and is part of a cluster of hire at KU
focused on Water Resources.  Researchers
should have a strong background in pursuing collaborative interdisciplinary
research as well as an interest in teaching in an interdisciplinary
program.  Areas of research focus may include
field-based studies of (but are not limited to) the areas of water quality, water
resources sustainability, reservoir management, ecosystem sciences (or
services) and water management, wetlands and agriculture. The successful
candidate is expected: (1) to have an established track record of publishing
their research in high quality outlets and developing and maintaining an
externally funded program of research; (2) to teach in KU’s Environmental
Studies Program; and (3) to have a commitment to service within Environmental
Studies, KBS, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the University, and
their profession.

 Required: Ph.D.
in Aquatic Ecology or a closely related discipline and at least two years in a tenure-track or equivalent  position. 
For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure: all of
the above are required, plus an established record of publications and
demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of courses in one’s specialty
area. The candidate must meet KU standards for research, teaching, and service
sufficient to quality for an appointment at the rank of Association Professor
with tenure. Also preferred is a demonstrated ability to secure external
research funding.
